Love all the applications of “roller coaster。” Seriously, it’s another typical Pigeon obsession that kids and adults will love。

The Pigeon is having another wild adventure。

This thing cracked me up! 😂I read it after buying it for my little cousin and there was all this build up to riding the coaster, with the Pigeon displaying all the emotions it would give him then。。。。that ending just made me laugh 😂My first pigeon book。 Now I see why my cousin is obsessed with this series, might have to check out her little library next time I visit Haha

Mo hit it out of the park with another great pigeon book! The Pigeon follows his patterns of excitement and emotions and then it happens - a roller coaster!!Readers are in for a silly surprise。Reviewed from a library copy。

I felt let down, even though that's the point of the story。 Still, it's very amusing, with a great monologue from Pigeon and expressive illustrations。 I felt let down, even though that's the point of the story。 Still, it's very amusing, with a great monologue from Pigeon and expressive illustrations。 。。。more

This was one of my favorite newer picture books that I read。 I had never read any of the pigeon books before this year, but I found myself really enjoying the writing and the illustrations in this one。

Pigeon is very excited about riding a roller coaster。 He is mentally preparing himself for all the steps and emotions involved。 But will the real thing live up to his expectations? This did not go the way I predicted it would。 See if readers can predict what will happen。 There aren't a whole lot of picture books out there for the amusement park ride enthusiasts (I can only think of Frazee's Rollercoaster off the top of my head), so this will be one more for them to celebrate some of those monumen Pigeon is very excited about riding a roller coaster。 He is mentally preparing himself for all the steps and emotions involved。 But will the real thing live up to his expectations? This did not go the way I predicted it would。 See if readers can predict what will happen。 There aren't a whole lot of picture books out there for the amusement park ride enthusiasts (I can only think of Frazee's Rollercoaster off the top of my head), so this will be one more for them to celebrate some of those monumental childhood experiences。 And even those not ready for park rides can enjoy Pigeon's antics。 。。。more

Cute, but lacking the angst and drama of earlier installments。 Might Pigeon be growing up?

As always, funny and quirky and a joy to see how much expression can be made on a page containing a humble pigeon!

This title includes all the features that make the pigeon books favorites with the early reader demographic--conversation bubbles, visual and textual humor, and a the loveable silly pigeon。 There are more challenging words in the text than in previous pigeon stories, e。g。 "aquiver with anticipation", "I will demonstrate exemplary patience。"I believe other pigeon stories were more successful, but first graders who acted as a test group for this one laughed aloud while reading the book。Tie-in with This title includes all the features that make the pigeon books favorites with the early reader demographic--conversation bubbles, visual and textual humor, and a the loveable silly pigeon。 There are more challenging words in the text than in previous pigeon stories, e。g。 "aquiver with anticipation", "I will demonstrate exemplary patience。"I believe other pigeon stories were more successful, but first graders who acted as a test group for this one laughed aloud while reading the book。Tie-in with naming emotions。 。。。more

The Pigeon never disappoints。This book makes me miss being an elementary school librarian。 Reading Mo Willems books at storytime is full of unbridled JOY。 If I was teaching for a storytime, every students would design their own roller coaster - or at least the car - to make for one fantastic display。 Use construction paper! Or shoe boxes! Don't forget to print up special tickets。 I can just see it now。。。 The Pigeon never disappoints。This book makes me miss being an elementary school librarian。 Reading Mo Willems books at storytime is full of unbridled JOY。 If I was teaching for a storytime, every students would design their own roller coaster - or at least the car - to make for one fantastic display。 Use construction paper! Pigeon is ready to ride a roller coaster。 He knows he will need a ticket。 He knows he will need to wait in line。 And he knows it will be scary as it twists and turns at high speed。 But he is ready。 Is he really ready for what will happen next? This is a mostly fun entry for fans of Pigeon。 It’s told in typical style with illustrations and dialogue only。 There isn’t quite as much interaction for us, but Pigeon still carries the book by himself。 The story didn’t go quite the way I thought it would, Pigeon is ready to ride a roller coaster。 He knows he will need a ticket。 He knows he will need to wait in line。 And he knows it will be scary as it twists and turns at high speed。 But he is ready。 Is he really ready for what will happen next? This is a mostly fun entry for fans of Pigeon。 It’s told in typical style with illustrations and dialogue only。 There isn’t quite as much interaction for us, but Pigeon still carries the book by himself。 The story didn’t go quite the way I thought it would, but once I adjusted my expectations, I had to laugh at the outcome, especially the final page。 And it provides a good lesson for all that sometimes things you are looking forward to turn into disappointments。 I think the biggest issue with the book will be some of the vocabulary choices, which will be a bit beyond the target audience。 Yes, I get the concept of stretching a vocabulary, but I think a couple of the words are a bit too abstract for the age group。 Still, fans of Pigeon will be glad they picked it up。Read my full review at Carstairs Considers。 。。。more

Not *quite* up to the standards of the previous, imho。

Mo Willems is all any child really needs。 The pigeon is the Everyman/person protagonist。 My kindergartners were INSANE for the pigeon。 Any new adventure will sate them。 This particular book is a bit unusual in the series--it was more of a quest and the pigeon was not relying on The Other as much as some times。 I was also waiting for the other shoe to drop and Chaos to Ensue, but amazingly that didn't happen。 Children root for the Pigeon because the Pigeon is Every Child。 Mo Willems is all any child really needs。 The pigeon is the Everyman/person protagonist。 My kindergartners were INSANE for the pigeon。 Any new adventure will sate them。 This particular book is a bit unusual in the series--it was more of a quest and the pigeon was not relying on The Other as much as some times。 I was also waiting for the other shoe to drop and Chaos to Ensue, but amazingly that didn't happen。 Children root for the Pigeon because the Pigeon is Every Child。 。。。more

The Pigeon is ready to take a big step in life--and it may be even more exciting than driving the bus。 Will our hero be ready to take on the park's most thrilling ride? The Pigeon is back and this time he is going to ride a roller coaster! He imagines what the whole experience is going to be like。。but of course in typical pigeon fashion, it turns out to be a tad different than what he imagines。 I like the sentence Willems uses "I have been aquiver with anticipation!" The vocabulary was a little to advanced for the age of the kids who like the pigeon stories。 I was asked multiple times what words meant。 The story wasn’t as engaging to the kids as some of the other pigeon stories。

Another fun installment in the Pigeon series of picture books! Pigeon is dreaming of all the things that come with riding a roller coaster。 This would be a fun book to read to little ones who are getting ready to ride their first coaster, especially if they're nervous。 The ending is funny, as always, and it was a delight to read! It's always a happy day when the Pigeon is back with a new book。 This time the Pigeon is making plans to ride the roller coaster。 This is a more mature Pigeon than we have seen in years past, carefully anticipating what he needs to do---obtain a ticket, wait in line, ride a scary roller coaster---in order to realize his dream。 And he carefully goes through the steps he's anticipated。。。only to find the roller coaster is。。。well。。。a little less roller-y and coaster-y than he'd hoped。。。but, nonethel It's always a happy day when the Pigeon is back with a new book。 This time the Pigeon is making plans to ride the roller coaster。 This is a more mature Pigeon than we have seen in years past, carefully anticipating what he needs to do---obtain a ticket, wait in line, ride a scary roller coaster---in order to realize his dream。 And he carefully goes through the steps he's anticipated。。。only to find the roller coaster is。。。well。。。a little less roller-y and coaster-y than he'd hoped。。。but, nonetheless, quite fun。 。。。more

Classic pigeon but not sure how well kids will respond to it。 I got a chance to read it aloud to a group of 1st graders today; they weren't into it until I went full-on Mrs。 Foster mode 😄 !
